Dear Members, Friends & Supporters,
For over 10 years, the Aberfeldie Sports Club board, on behalf of our 1200 participants and their families, have been trying to lobby the City of Moonee Valley, State and Federal governments in an endeavour to have the Jack Chalmers Pavilion redeveloped to meet the needs of our members and the community.
The introduction of women’s and youth girls football along with netball has further demonstrated the inadequacy of our facilities, that have already been labelled by the City of Moonee Valley “at the end of life”.
On many occasions and from several different people, we have been given assurances that the City of Moonee Valley would prioritise a new purpose-built facility that would cater for our ever-growing needs.
We were extremely excited when the City of Moonee Valley developed a masterplan for the Clifton Park precinct which include a new pavilion. We were also delighted when it was inferred by the City of Moonee Valley that this new pavilion would occur in 2020.
You can imagine our disappointment when the official Masterplan was released some time later the date had changed to 2031.
Of the 9 EDFL Clubs in the Moonee Valley municipality, every other Club has had pavilion improvements or replacements since Clifton Park was last invested in. In fact, some of them have had more than one.
The Aberfeldie Sports Club Board believe that IT’S OUR TURN and we ask if you can help us spread this message.
We are calling on all of our members and supporters to help petition for Aberfeldie Sports Club to be prioritised for a redevelopment of the facilities at Clifton Park.
Can we ask whenever you have an opportunity to speak to a councillor, a council official or state or federal member or anyone that will listen that IT’S OUR TURN. We have been patient enough and its only fair that we are afforded the same support as the rest of the sporting clubs and community.
The Aberfeldie Sports Club will continue to work through all the appropriate channels, but believe you, our members and supporters, can make a huge difference by spreading the phrase.
IT’S OUR TURN
